Moving On: Taipei, Taiwan

December 3-6

5-weeks in Japan was enough. Not being able to understand the language was wearing me down. So what do I do? I move to Taiwan. This is the most humid place I have ever been. Fortunately it is not hot in this season. Public transportation here is also some of the best I've ever been on, (though not nearly as modern as Japan). And, enough words that I can understand so I can get around, especially with the translator on my cell phone.

So grey today that there is no color

Interesting shaggy tree

Cajuput Tree
Melaleuca leucadendron L.
Cajeput oil is used to treat colds, headaches, toothache, and tumors; to loosen phlegm so it can be coughed up (as an expectorant); and as a tonic.

Not everywhere is pretty, shiny, new

and some are definitely uptown.

Superhighways: Trains everywhere and
another goes by every 5-10 minutes, each way.

Above is Zonghli, my last pass through before my next temporary home.

It was a misty rainy day today, a bit cool, but mostly this place feels like a greenhouse.

No coffee at the Fukuoka airport, so I had to have this

Moving back to the main islands of Japan.

It is getting cooler as I move north again. Okinawa was too humid and still hot when it wasn't raining.

Kumamoto, Japan

It was a cold day to be out and about but the scenery was worth it. The castle has endured war, earthquakes, fire, and continues to be rebuilt, restored, and maintained. It is one of the top three castles in Japan.

Fukuoka City - Monday was a walk around day, exploring the city, including Canal City and Fukuoka Tower. Japanese gardens are closed on Mondays so try again. On Tuesday, between rain falling, There was the Japanese Garden and the Art Museum. I also bought another ticket for the Bullet Train to move into the countryside.
