On my first night in Naha, Okinawa I went out with the house host for a meal of Sushi. We had reservations for 5:00 and arrived at 4:55, still closed. At 4:59 they opened the door, we order and by 5:04 the small place with about 10-stools at a counter was already full of strangers. The house host was listening to the conversations and said he heard something like: "We arrive as strangers and leave as friends." Everyone was in fact conversing like long lost friends.

Wherever I turn, there is another well presented meal, gardens, shrines, castles, temples, polite people (Arigato), and a clean place, no litter, no graffiti. Public transportation is awesome, junk cars do not seem to be allowed, I haven't seen one.
